Farmington Endowed Scholarship - Kingswood Oxford

Farmington Endowed Scholarship

Kenneth and Jane Roberts Scholarship

Kingswood Oxford West Hartford Commencement

In 2016, Kingswood Oxford received the largest financial gift in the school’s history that has been earmarked exclusively as tuition assistance for academically motivated students who live in Farmington.

Kenneth DeWitt Roberts ’34 and his wife Jane included Kingswood Oxford in their wills to honor a commitment in gratitude for the “stellar education” he received at Kingswood School (now Kingswood Oxford School), which he credited for his professional success. A graduate of MIT, Roberts made his living as an engineer and sought-after author, professor, and book publisher. Roberts, a scholarship recipient at Kingswood himself, embraced the idea of paying it forward and never forgot the educational opportunity presented to him at an early age. “When we were young, people took chances on us so later in life, we felt it was time to take a chance on others,” Jane Roberts said.

Applicants from Farmington are automatically considered for this scholarship. No additional application is needed. As a condition of maintaining this award, students must remain in good academic standing and uphold KO’s Core Values. Families must submit updated financial information via Clarity, our financial assistance application platform, each year while the student is enrolled at Kingswood Oxford School to demonstrate financial need.

Through the Roberts generous gift, talented and deserving students can experience Kingswood Oxford’s transformational academic opportunities. At KO, how you learn is as important as what you learn. Hands-on experiences in small classes foster students’ creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. Each student’s voice is heard. Every student matters.
