The Kingswood Oxford football program is steeped in tradition, hard work, and dedication. Beginning preseason at the end of August and continuing through November, the Wyverns compete in NEPSAC and the highly competitive Evergreen League. The team has seen significant success recently, appearing in bowl games in 2014, 2015, and 2018, winning the New England Championship in 2015. Our team practices and plays on the Hoffman Turf Field and has an automatic Hudl camera that can record and live stream practices and games. The Wyverns also frequently utilize both the fitness center and weight room throughout the preseason and the season.
A principled individual, Coach Brandon Batory leads with his three core values that are the staples of his football and coaching philosophy. He believes that for the team to attain great heights, one must put the team before self-interest. “When one person has success,” he said, “we all have success.” This positivity, he feels, is infectious to the team.
He encourages his players to congratulate one another on their successes, play a position they might not prefer for the betterment of the team, help one another, and stay positive. Another value he posits is to face the storm like bison who charge into upcoming bad weather. “Apply courage, hard work, tenacity, mental toughness to attack and the negative situation in life or unwanted task. The faster we will emerge from it, the better we will come out of it,” he said. Lastly, he wants his players to know their strengths and weaknesses fully so they can continue improving.
Batory values his time with the players and wants to be a constant presence in their lives. For Batory to get the most out of a player, he believes in showing up for them. “For me, it’s showing that I care,” he said. “Being around all the time. Being a positive role model in their lives.”
All Kingswood Oxford athletes have access to our 33-acre campus, with multiple playing fields, an artificial turf field, a multi-purpose fieldhouse, a yoga studio, and two fitness centers. Certified athletic trainers are on hand every day to ensure the health, well-being, and development of every student-athlete. Every team also reflects the school’s core values, demonstrating honesty, integrity, respect, learning with passion, and caring beyond self.
